Naked:Runner Sunglasses: mimi pink

Since launching the idea of Simply Runderful, when Lucja and I will be running #500kin5days, we have been contacting brands in the hope that they would be happy to support our challenge in the form of free kit, in return for us wearing and promoting it. Naked:Runner were instantly interested in supporting Lucja and I, so sent us two free pairs of sunglasses to run with in Holland. Naked Runner are a small UK based company that specialises in lightweight sports performance eyewear, designed by athletes. I hadn't heard of the brand before Lucja made contact but I haven't been anything but impressed since receiving the eyewear.

I received one pair in the Mimi Pink and a spare in the Blue Streak. The pink matches our pink Runderwear so we will be wearing these for our Holland run!

Before writing my review I want to clarify that I haven't been asked to write this post so everything written is my honest opinion. I have chosen to write this as a thank you for their support and to hopefully help others discover a fantastic new eyewear brand that ticks all the boxes!

I have long been looking for a pair of sunglasses for running that are affordable, lightweight and that fit my face well as I often have trouble with the way sunglasses sit on my nose (I think I have a wide nose bone). My last pair, the Rapid Blue / White from BLIZ which I wore in the Marathon des Sables, while brilliant, were slightly on the higher end of the cost scale. They are pretty destroyed now after all the sand storms so having a couple of new pairs for this summer will come in handy.

Naked Runner sunglasses retail at a very affordable £26.60 and the low price is not compromised by poor quality. Here are some of its features:

  • Air ventilation for clear viewing
  • Lenses made from Polycarbonate - 100% UV-400 protection and very durable
  • Frames made from TR90 composite material making them incredibly robust and flexible
  • Frames come with a microfiber carry bag for added protection
  • Adjustable nose pads (important if sunglasses don't often fit your face well)
  • Number of air ducts around the frames to help to keep the frames clear of mist

I could barely feel the sunglasses when I took them out for a run as they curve around the head perfectly and are so lightweight. The frame sits quite close to your face to stop wind or debris getting inside, so you need not worry about poor visibility in rough conditions.

If you're worried about buying the sunglasses online without trying them on first, don't fret because they offer a full refund for unsatisfied customers... however, I would be surprised if this is needed!

If this ticks all of your boxes like it does mine and you want a pair of their sunglasses, please use this link for 10% of your bill to go to The Pink Ribbon Foundation, our chosen breast cancer charity for Simply Runderful.
